According to sources, the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has accorded its clearance to Metro Line 2A and Line 7 after inspection on the lines. This development comes in the aftermath of serious safety concerns being brought to light by the CMRS on Line 7

The MMRDA has claimed that the rectifications needed have been done by them on the two Mumbai metro lines. Speculations are made that with the clearance received, the services are likely to open to the public in a week. Therefore, in some days, the city could get another metro line that will ease the travel for people

It is after eight years when Mumbai had got its first elevated Metro Line that connects Ghatkopar to Versova, that two additional lines could partially resume soon.

Based on reports, the CMRS commenced inspection on the two lines on February 20 and is claimed to have given the green signal for commercial operation. Now that the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has allegedly given its permission, the Maharashtra government could commence operations soon.

The Metro Line 2A and Metro Line 7 will run parallelly on the east and west sides of the suburbs respectively. This, apart from decongesting the Western Express Highway will enable one to travel directly from Dahisar to Ghatkopar. Additionally, the commercial operation of both lines has been planned in two phases.

Moreover, a source on the condition of anonymity said, "Ideally they can open now, but some of the safety points are still pending".
