A large number of crowd is anticipated to arrive in Mumbai on the occasion of the Mahaparinirvana Day, which is the 67th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, on December 6.
Considering this, the Central Railway (CR) has decided to temporarily ban the sale of platform tickets for long-distance passengers at some railway stations for their safety. However, senior citizens and those with medical needs have been exempted from these restrictions to avoid inconvenience.
This ban will be in effect from December 2-9.
With this, the railway authorities aim to manage overcrowding and smooth passenger movement within the premises.
Here's the list of division-wise stations banned for ticket sale:
Mumbai division: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST), Dadar, Thane and Kalyan
Bhusawal division: Badnera, Akola, Nandura, Murtijapur, Shegaon, Malkapur, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Pachora, Chalisgaon, Manmad and Nashik
Nagpur division: Nagpur and Wardha
Pune division: Pune
Solapur division: Solapur
Additionally, special precautionary steps and advisory have been issued by the railway administration and railway police on December 5 and 6. The RPF, Home Guards, Maharashtra Security Force and other security forces have been deployed at Dadar station. The administration has planned pedestrian bridges along with security.
