The traffic police has undertaken a special campaign against the violators of e-bike drivers and under this campaign 672 e-bikes were seized in 11 days. Also, e-challan action was taken on 180 two-wheeler vehicles that deliver food to homes. It has been observed that many youths who work as door-to-door food delivery workers in Mumbai are breaking the rules by driving their bikes at high speed.
Complaints were received to the traffic police about violations like not obeying signals, not using helmets, driving in opposite directions, riding two-wheelers at a speed exceeding the limit. Recently, the flow of these complaints has increased. 672 e-bikes were seized by registering 181 crimes under the special campaign against e-bikes conducted by the transport department from 18 to 29 December. Also, under the Motor Vehicle Act, e-challan action was taken against 180 two-wheelers of food delivery people.
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the citizens to report the e-bike drivers and delivery boys violating the traffic rules on the helpline of the Mumbai Traffic Control Branch.
