The most harrowing part while travelling is coming across unhygienic and dirty toilets at railway stations. Despite paying, people don't get to use clean toilets. In order to tackle this menace, Western Railway (WR) has come up with a unique solution which will hopefully work for commuters.
On Sunday, November 19, 2017, the WR launched a technology-based feedback system for public toilets which will come up at 17 stations on WR line.
All 17 stations will have a QR code posted on the toilet wall. One just needs to scan the code and give the feedback through a mobile phone.
The railways have promised to take action against the private contractor either by levying fine or blacklisting the agency.
If you do not like the toilet or have complaints related to hygiene/cleanliness, you can give a feedback through the QR code system. We will certainly take action based on citizen feedback."
WR chief public relations officer Ravinder Bhatkar told TOI,
According to one of the passenger rights activists, many of the toilets charge money but don't provide good service. He added that there should be an attendant for 24/7 who will look after the cleanliness of toilets.
