The Central Railway (CR) has changed the timings of the last night Kasara and Karjat-bound local trains and as per the new schedule, these local trains will leave 6 to 12 minutes earlier. So now the passengers will have to rush to board the local train. This decision has not gone down well with the passengers.
As per the revised timings of long distance trains on Central Railway, timings of local services have been changed. While the CSMT- Kasara local train departs daily at 12:14 am, CSMT-Karjat local train departs at 12:24 am every night. However, from October 5, the CSMT-Kasara local will depart at 12:08 am, while CSMT-Karjat local will depart at 12:12 am. These local trains will depart 6 and 12 minutes earlier respectively. So passengers travelling late at night will have to rush to board Kasara, Karjat local.
Passengers lose their lives after falling from the train owing to the rush. Therefore, to deal with the increased crowd, more local trains were demanded. Also it was necessary to start local trips such as Kasara – Thane and Karjat – Thane during morning and evening rush hours. However, the Central Railway Administration extended the local Kalyan running to CSMT – Thane. Due to this, passengers in Thane will be inconvenienced.
Also, passengers from Dombivli cannot board the fast local train in the morning hours as it is always crowded. Suburban Railway Passenger Federation President Lata Argade said that the schedule changes made by the Central Railway Administration without taking the Passenger Federation / Passenger Association into confidence will cause inconvenience to the passengers.
