Neeraj Kabi who was a part of movies like Hichki, Talvar, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, and the most recent hit web series Sacred Games, will be seen essaying a grey shade character 'Liakat' in Dipesh Jain’s directorial ‘Gali Guleiyan’. The film is set in the walled city of Old Delhi called 'Gali Guleiyan'. The story is about a shopkeeper Khuddoos (Manoj Bajpayee) who spends his days obsessively watching people through hidden closed-circuit cameras. Once he overhears a boy being beaten by his father Liakat (Neeraj Kabi) and then begins the search for the child to save him.

In the promo, Neeraj is seen venting out his frustration by hitting a small boy brutally. When we asked Neeraj about the character he said, “You will find people with such ruthless mentality everywhere. When we see such cruel behaviour around us a question arises about what this person is up to. However, this is something that the person has already gone through or is dealing with and therefore blasts off on the child person. This is not a negative character as a father cannot be negative, however, a grey shade has been added to it.”

Adding further about his experience of working with the debut director Dipesh Jain the actor averred, “It feels great to work with people who first understand an actors’ crafts and then apply director’s craft and Dipesh is one such person. He is well versed with his vision and knows what to portray.”

When asked about the success of Sacred Games, Neeraj Kabi remarked, “It gives a feeling of transformation that audiences have now started enjoying and encouraging such content. I would not compare it with the iconic film ‘Sholey’ but yes, the way Sholey’s dialogues got famous and is remembered everywhere, at present Sacred Games dialogues are being recited all over.”

'Gali Guleiyan' has been screened in around 27 film festivals globally and is all set to hit the screens in India on September 7, 2018.
