According to Uber’s Lost and Found Index 2024, Indians forget all kinds of items in taxis. As per the report, Mumbai is now the most forgetful city in India.
Mumbai has taken the top spot from Delhi, bringing the national capital to second on the list. The next three cities are Kolkata, Bangalore, and Pune. Among major cities, riders from Hyderabad are the least forgetful.
The report also shows the most forgetful time of the day. Most items are left behind between 6 pm and 8 pm. The most forgetful hour is 6 pm. The top forgetful dates in 2024 are September 28, August 3, and May 10. All these days are either festivals or weekends.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are the most forgetful days of the week. The list of forgotten items includes things we use every day. Some common ones are backpacks, earbuds, phones, wallets, sunglasses, keys, clothing, laptops, and water bottles. Even passports are on the list.
Some forgotten items are very unusual. Someone left behind a 25 kg wheelchair filled with cow ghee. Other unique items include a flute, a hair wig, a cooker with a gas hob, a wedding gown, a telescope with gold biscuits, an ultrasonic device for dogs, and a hawan kund.
If you forget something in an Uber, you can try to get it back in the following way:
1. Open the Uber app.
2. Tap the "Menu" icon.
3. Go to "Your Trips" and select the trip where you lost the item.
4. Tap "Report a problem with this trip."
5. Then choose "I misplaced something."
6. Tap "Contact my driver" and enter your phone number.
Uber will connect you with the driver. You can talk to the driver and try to get your item back. If the driver cannot be reached, you can still report the lost item in the app.
