Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has decided to distribute e-rickshaws for employment and self-employment to physically challenged people in the state this year. The Chief Minister directed that all municipal corporations should start rehabilitation centres providing all facilities like training, counselling, medical assistance to the physically challenged persons under one roof. A meeting of Disabled Welfare Corporation was held at Sahyadri Guest House.

The share capital of Divyang Nigam is INR 500 crore and the limit for giving loan to physically challenged people is INR 50 thousand and the proposal to increase it to INR 2.5 lakh has been directed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The Chief Minister said that a plan to provide skill training to the physically challenged people for employment and self-employment should be made with the help of the Skill Development Department, so that the disabled can get employment opportunities.

Rehabilitation centres should be established to provide accommodation, training, counselling, medical assistance to disabled persons under one roof. The Chief Minister also directed to create such a centre in every municipal corporation. The department and the corporation should make efforts to ensure that the physically challenged people of the state get maximum benefits from the schemes of the central government. The loan distribution process should be brought on fast track, for this the help of technology like mobile app, helpline should be taken.

The Chief Minister directed to create awareness about the Higher Education Loan Scheme for the physically challenged people. Last year, 797 battery operated rickshaws were approved by the corporation for self-employment. Of these, 600 rickshaws have been allotted and this year as well.
