Due to heavy rains, many parts of Mumbai are getting waterlogged. More than 300 mm of rain has been recorded at various places in the Mumbai metropolis from 1 aml yesterday to 7 am today. Heavy rains have caused waterlogging in some low-lying areas and suburban rail services have also been disrupted.


Heavy rain is expected throughout the day today. In this background, in order to avoid inconvenience to the students, all the municipal, government and private media schools and colleges in the Mumbai metropolis have declared a holiday fmorning schools.

The decision for the next sessions will be announced after reviewing the situation. Schools and colleges in the first (morning) session have been given a holiday. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration, a decision will be taken regarding whether to give a holiday to the schools and colleges in the second session i.e. the afternoon session after reviewing the rain test. Also the employees are also being requested not to go out of their homes.


The areas of Sion, Hindmata, Parel in South Mumbai are flooded. Also, in the suburbs, water has started to accumulate in the low-lying areas of Asalfa, Sakinaka, JB Nagar, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Chakala, Andheri. At present, cars are able to make their way through the accumulated water. However, traffic jams have started on the roads as the speed of traffic slows down.
