The Maharashtra government is going to spend INR 5,500 crore for Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana. The scheme is an internship programme, which will improve the employability and skills of the youth. It prepares them for the competitive job market.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced the stipend details at a public event in Pandharpur on Tuesday, July 16. The government will provide INR 6,000 to 12th pass candidates, INR 8,000 to those with ITI and diplomas, and INR 10,000 for degree and postgraduation holders.

Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar introduced the internship programme in the Budget 2024–25. The Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, along with the CM Public Welfare cell, will implement the scheme. 

This programme aims to train 10 lakh young people annually. They will receive a stipend of up to INR 10,000 per month from the state government.

Eligible candidates must be residents of Maharashtra and between 18 and 35 years old. The stipend will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the interns. The internships will last for six months.

Organisations that want to participate should be based in Maharashtra and have a certificate of incorporation. They should be in operation for at least three years and must register as employers on the Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation web portal and with EPF, ESIC, GST, DPIT, and Udyog Aadhaar.

Additionally, Pawar unveiled a plan to train 50,000 young people each year to spread awareness about government schemes. These individuals, known as "Yojana Dut," will receive a stipend under the same scheme.

In rural areas, one person will be designated for every gram panchayat. In urban areas, one person will be designated for every 5,000 residents.
