A few days ago, torrential rains lashed many parts of Maharashtra. The rains led to floods which hindered normal life. Many houses were underwater, resulting in their belongings being damaged. Considering that Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated in the coming weeks, many sculptors had commenced making idols for the festivities. However, the heavy rains had an impact on them as well.

With heavy rains lashing Konkan and central Maharashtra, Ganesh sculptors have faced heavy losses. In order to provide relief to them, idols will be given to those, whose earthen idols have been damaged in the flood, informed the Shri Ganesh Sculpture Workers Union. In the first phase, assistance will be provided to those sculptors in the Konkan region.

In the last few days, heavy rains lashed the Konkan, Mahad and Chiplun areas of Maharashtra causing damage to the sculptors. Considering that it is impossible to compensate them 100%, the Shri Ganesh Sculpture Workers Union in Maharashtra consider it their duty to help them, claim reports.

This union is also requesting the Ganesh sculptors in Mumbai and other regions that this is a small initiative taken by them. They are of the opinion that whilst they may not be financially rich, emotionally they are. They want to further undertake such measures, but have urged all their participants to make their contributions.
