According to reports, former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Sanjay Pandey has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before it in Delhi on Tuesday, July 5 in regards to a money laundering case.
The ED investigates financial crimes and has summoned Pandey in a case linked to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) co-location scam. This case is reportedly already being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
It is interesting to note that just two days after his retirement on June 30, the summons were sent to Pandey.
Narratives claim that the firm incorporated by Pandey was one of the IT companies tasked with undertaking security audits at the NSE between 2010 to 2015. This is when the co-location scam is believed to have transpired.
Based on accounts, the audit firm is being accused of not flagging any irregularities which came to light at a later date. Pandey and his firm are claimed to be investigated for " deliberate omission and commission", narratives cited.
The CBI had filed an FIR in the NSE co-location case back in 2018. This year in March, the agency while expanding its investigation in the case, nabbed former NSE chief executive officer Chitra Ramkrishna. Previously, the CBI had arrested former NSE group operating officer Anand Subramanian.
