On Wednesday, a ruling party MLA gave a stern warning to the government that 70 percent of the paneer sold in the state is fake and that the lives of citizens are being played with. He said that fake or artificial paneer is definitely a threat to the health of citizens. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar assured the Legislative Assembly that strict action will be taken against the vendors and those involved in selling this paneer.

Members like Vikram Pachpute, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Kailas Patil and others had submitted lakhs of suggestions regarding the sale of analog cheese in the state under the name of analog, artificial or fake cheese. Member Vikram Pachpute had raised an interesting suggestion in this regard. Analogue cheese, which is made using vegetable ghee instead of milk, is being sold in the state under the name of paneer. 70 to 75 percent of the cheese sold daily in the state is analogue cheese. The members alleged that since analogue cheese is being sold as paneer, it is also having an adverse effect on the dairy industry and people are also being cheated.
