Republic Party of India (A) chief Ramdas Athwale, who is also the Minister of State (MoS) for Social Justice, made several demands from the alliance Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.
During a press conference, Athawale asserted that RPI (A) wants to contest on 10 assembly seats and informed that he has already given a list, to Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil, consisting the names of more than 23 constituencies across Maharashtra.
Athawale also demanded reservation for the backward communities in Rajya Sabha and in sports while asserting that RPI (A) will not contest the upcoming polls on BJP’s symbol.

The recommendations made by RPI (A) for assembly seats in Maharashtra are as followed:
During 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, RPI (A) contested on eight assembly seats including Ambernath, Chembur, Pimpri, Deglur, Mehekar, Vikhroli, Shivaji Nagar and Deolali.
