India defeated South Africa by 7 runs to win the T20 World Cup 2024 final on June 29. India won the toss and elected to bat first at the Kensington Oval Stadium in Bridgetown, Barbados.


India scored 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored 76, Aksar Patel scored 47 and Shivam Dubey scored 27. Keshav Maharaj and Enrich Norkhia took 2 wickets each for South Africa. Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada took 1 wicket each. 


In 20 overs, South Africa scored 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets chasing a target of 177 runs. Hardik Pandya took 3 wickets, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets each, and Akshar Patel took 1 wicket.


South Africa scored 147 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 15 overs. In 5 overs, 30 runs were needed for victory, however, India made a tremendous comeback.


Hardik Pandya took Heinrich Klaasen's wicket which turned the match in India's favour. Soon, David Miller was sent back to the crease. In the last over, 16 runs were needed. Suryakumar Yadav then took an amazing catch of David Miller on the boundary. 


It was believed and said that Suryakumar clinched the world cup there when he took the massive catch on the boundary.
