Mumbai - The timing could not have been better.
The state government has activated 500 Wi-Fi hotspots across the city and suburbs even as Mumbai is on the verge of holding elections to the civic body. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis himself took to twitter on Monday to announce the newly activated hotspots.  Prominent places which have Wi-Fi facilities are the city police commissioner's office, the Vidhan Bhavan in Nariman Point, Kala Nagar in Bandra, the Bombay High Court, as well as some spots in the central and western suburbs.
The government had kept the facility on testing mode between 2 January - 8 January. Over 23000 users have already availed of the service. According to the government, data over two TB has already been downloaded.
