The delay by the State Public Service Commission (MPSC) in modifying advertisements for various posts led to candidates exceeding the age limit, causing widespread disqualification. In response, the state government has decided to increase the maximum age limit for recruitment to MPSC posts by one year. This relief applies to candidates who applied for newly released advertisements for these posts between January 1 and December 20, 2024. As part of this decision, the commission has also revised the exam dates for both Group-B and Group-C exams. The Group-B exam, initially scheduled for January 5, will now take place on February 2, 2025, while the Group-C exam is rescheduled for May 4, 2025.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the decision through an X post, providing a significant reprieve to thousands of candidates who had been disqualified due to age restrictions. The revised age limit and updated examination schedules for the Maharashtra Group B Non-Gazetted Service Pre-Examination 2024 and the Maharashtra Group C Pre-Service Examination 2024 are now available on the commission’s website. Senior candidates can submit their applications by January 6, 2025.

The prolonged release of revised advertisements disrupted the recruitment process. Many candidates, who were within the age limit when the initial advertisements were issued, became ineligible after the delay. Recognising that the candidates were not at fault, they had appealed for an age limit extension to retain their eligibility. The government’s decision has addressed this concern, ensuring these candidates are not denied a fair opportunity.
