According to reports, former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar received an abusive, one-page letter threatening to kill her and her family on Wednesday, June 29. Pednekar had earlier in December also received an abusive letter from the same sender, "Vijendra Mhatre" and the address.
Based on accounts, the latest letter also mentioned Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray and Ajit Pawar. Pednekar went to the police station with the latest letter and an FIR was filed under Section 509 and 506-II of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which entails, a word, gesture or act to insult the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation, respectively.
Moreover, Dr Balaji Kinikar, rebel Shiv Sena MLA from Ambernath also received a death threat in a letter from an unknown person. Narratives suggest that the letter to Kinikar read that it is time to shoot him. Further, it allegedly mentioned that he has caused immense trouble to their Shiv Sea leader. It is claimed that it elucidated that this letter is written because before he dies, he should live in fear. Following this letter, Kinikar's supporters came to the roads after posters of him were seen mentioning that yes he is a traitor.
In other developments, a PIL was filed before the Bombay High Court seeking the registration of FIRs against Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut. This was done for the sedition and breach of public peace after the political crisis in the state, propelled by the rebellion initiated by Eknath Shinde.
