When the Supreme Court rejected the bail application of Milind Ekbote — the main conspirator of Bhima-Koregaon violence — police arrested him and was presented in Pune Court. He has been sent to police custody till March 19.

However, no action has been taken against the second accused, Sambhaji Bhide of Shri Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan, which has upset Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh’s president Prakash Ambedkar, who has threatened to carry out a protest in Mumbai.

Police taking action against Ekbote and letting Bhide go scot-free has not gone down well with Ambedkari Union who has asked for the arrest of Sambhaji Bhide. Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh’s president Prakash Ambedkar has given an ultimatum of carrying out a protest from Byculla to Azad Maidan if police fail to arrest Bhide before March 26, 2018. He added that 250 organisations and Samyak Vidyarthi Andolan will also participate in the protest.

Ambedkar has also demanded that Tata Institute of Social Sciences should change their rules regarding scholarship with regards to students of the backward class. According to TISS, 75 per cent attendance and a letter from the principal is a must for these students. Ambedkar is unhappy with the rules and wants TISS to discard it.
