Ratan Tata,chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and India’s biggest business tycoon passed away on Wednesday, October 9. He was 86 years old. He was known as the father of India's industrial sector. His demise has spread grief not only in the industry but across the country.
After the demise of Ratan Tata, one day mourning will be observed in the state on October 10 in his honour. Ratan Tata will also be cremated with state honours. At present his mortal remains have been kept at his residence for the last rites.
A day of mourning was declared
After the demise of Ratan Tata, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that a mourning day will be observed in the state on Thursday, October 10 in his honour. This will be a state funeral as a tribute to Ratan Tata. During this period, the national flag will remain at half mast in the government offices of the state. There will also be no entertainment or recreational programs.

Funeral with state honours
Ratan Tata's last rites will be performed with state honours. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has given instructions in this regard. The mortal remains of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata are currently kept at his residence. After this, his mortal remains will be taken from Halekai to NCPA at Nariman Point at 10 am.
After this, from 10 am to 3.30 pm, common people can pay their tributes at NCPA. People will be allowed to enter through Gate No. 3 of NCPA for the last darshan, while citizens will be able to exit through Gate No. 2 for darshan.
Funeral in state ceremony
After this, Tata's mortal remains will leave for Worli for the last rites at 3.30 pm. After this, the last journey will reach the crematorium in Worli at 4 pm via Marine Drive via Peddar Road. After this, Tata's mortal remains will be cremated in Parsi style in a government ceremony at 4.30 pm.
