Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have consistently claimed to have won the Gram Panchayat elections with the highest number of seats, However, NCP state president Jayant Patil has stated that the BJP is not even 20 per cent in the state as compared to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)

Adding more, Patil said that only NCP has won the highest number of seats. He shared the information while talking to the media in this regard and said that the three constituent parties of MVA - Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena - have not contested this election together. They contested the elections separately in their respective constituencies, and even in such scenario, the people have responded positively to all the three parties.

The candidates from all the three constituent parties have won with large numbers, and most of the seats are held by them. In comparison, the existence of the BJP has been limited, whereby the former ruling party of Maharashtra has won less than 20 per cent of the seats in the state.

Jayant Patil presented the details of Gram Panchayat election results to the media and while giving the information, he said that elections were held for 13,295 seats in the state, out of which NCP has won 3,276 seats, Congress has won 1,938 seats. On the other hand, BJP has won 2,942 seats and Shiv Sena has won 2,406 seats.

These numbers reveal that NCP has become the preferred party and no matter how many BJP leaders claim to have won the highest number of seats, the NCP has clearly made a mark with the highest number of seats in the Gram Panchayat elections.

Furthermore, new sarpanches and deputy sarpanches will be elected in the respective gram panchayats of the state by February 15, 2021, and that will determine which Gram Panchayat will be under the control of the respective parties.
