Mumbai – The opposition parties raised the issue of female foeticide after 19 female foetuses were found dumped at Mhaisala village in Sangli district on Monday.
State health minister Deepak Sawant informed the House that the accused in this case is absconding and police are taking efforts to arrest him. He also said that the roots of this crime are spread in other states and police are taking the help of their Karnataka counterparts.
Women and child development minister Pankaja Munde also directed the police to conduct a thorough investigation in this case. She also said that the government has taken all efforts to spread awareness but the society also needs to take initiative in this regard. Munde said that she will be visiting the crime spot soon.
