After the Bombay High Court slammed Maharashtra government for delaying the matter, Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil said that Maratha Reservation is not in the hands of the government.
The matter is pending in the court and a commission has been set up for the same which will submit its report before the court, said Patil, adding that as soon as the report is submitted, the government will initiate further developments.
While talking to the media, the Revenue Minister informed that the government is doing everything possible to resolve the matter. The state government has asked the Backward Classes Commision to submit a report regarding the same.
Putting the buck on the court, Patil said that the state government has passed an ordinance regarding Maratha Reservation which is currently in court. It has presented a 2700-pages affidavit to the court. The delay is not from the side of state government, he asserted.
Earlier, while hearing a petition on Maratha Reservation, Bombay HC slammed the government for the delay and asked the commission to submit its report by August 14.
