A smart prepaid meter will not be installed in the homes of ordinary customers. Smart meters will be installed at the homes of Mahavitaran employees, at the power distribution company's center, at distribution stations, at government offices. It is the responsibility of the tenderer to repair the smart meter in case of failure. Mahavitaran will not have to take loan for smart meters.
Central government will give some subsidy behind each meter. Due to the installation of smart meters, the commercial loss of the distribution company will be reduced. The meter fee will not be recovered from the consumers and will not be paid to the government. Fadnavis appealed to the opposition to stop the ongoing propaganda in the name of smart meters.
