Results of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) are out. Thane's Kashmira Sankhe has come first in Maharashtra by ranking 25 nationally. On this occasion, Kashmira also shared the secret behind her success and her journey while interacting with the various news media channels on May 23.
Kashmira Sankhe said, “I had no expectations from the result. However, there was definitely a hope. I couldn't believe it when the results were announced. When I checked that it was not a provisional list but a ranker's list, I was convinced that I was ranked 25th in the country."
My mother used to show me Kiran Bedi's news clippings
"Since my childhood, I dreamed of UPSC. My mother used to show me Kiran Bedi's news clippings. Since then the idea of preparing for civil services exams has rooted in me. I did my graduation in Mumbai. I graduated in Dental Surgery from Government Dental College, Mumbai. Later, while working as a dentist, I thought that I am working on the health of citizens, but I can do a lot of work in the civil service. The determination since then is still strong," said Kashmira Sankhe.
My optional subject was 'Anthropology'
Kashmira Sankhe added, “My optional subject was 'Anthropology'. Since I studied medicine, many subjects have been repeated in anthropology. As I studied this topic, I realised that it is more important to society and culture. My interest in the subject grew and I chose this subject as my optional subject.”
I started preparing for this exam from 2020
"I started preparing for this exam in 2020. This was my third attempt. I had not cleared the prelims exam in the previous two attempts. This time I got success at all levels. My first preference is IAS, second preference is IFS. I would like to work in Maharashtra. Because I know the language and culture here,” Kashmira also mentioned.
