Diwali 2022: MSRTC To Run Nearly 228 Special Buses From Mumbai

Of the total the number of 1494 extra buses, 228 will be from Mumbai, 368 will be operated from MSRTC's Aurangabad division, followed by 358 - Pune, 274 - Nagpur, 195 - Nagpur and 71 - Amravati division.

In order to cater the rush of commuters during Diwali festivity, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to run nearly 1,500 extra buses for 10 days.

According to an official statement released by the MSRTC on Thursday, October 13, for the convenience of the passengers traveling to their hometowns or for tourism, the transport body will run 1,494 additional 'Diwali Special Buses across the state.

Shekhar Channe, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the corporation, said that these buses will run from October 21 to 31, 2022.

Besides, those above 75 years of age can travel free in any state transport bus and those in 65-75 age group can avail 50 per cent senior citizen concessions.

Meanwhile, as per the order issued to all the departments through the Transport Department in the Central Office, additional buses have been made available for reservation. One can reserve tickets on these special buses on the MSRTC website (www.msrtc.Maharashtra.gov.in.) or app.

The transport department has initiated a drive to ensure that private operators do not overcharge passengers — and as per rules, they can fix a fare which is not more than 1.5 times the fare of MSRTC buses for the same route.
