Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Maharashtra have increased significantly and the districts have been asked to stay alert and follow the directives to curb the spread of the infection. Following the same, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), recently decided to set up uninterrupted control rooms (war rooms) across 24 Divisional Offices in the city, including the BMC Headquarters.
Officials have confirmed the same and have informed that the same is being done to assist patients with COVID infection and omicron. Patient's family, relatives can get more information about the same and also about the high-risk and low-risk groups. Patients and their families will be assisted and guided through these control rooms.
The BMC has appealed to the citizens to contact the control rooms immediately if they feel the need. The number of infected patients has been increasing in the last few days due to the infection of COVID-19 and its mutated form Omicron. Taking this into consideration, the BMC has planned that the control room will be operational 24x7, i.e., 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
The administration has clarified that these rooms will be staffed by medical officers and other staff in the required services. The BMC had also implemented a decentralized bed management system from June 2020 with the objective of providing immediate beds to the patients with COVID and direct guidance on various issues related to the infection. Officials have been working tirelessly to this day to ensure patients are offered support on an immediate basis.
Moreover, these divisional control rooms are functioning at the level of all 24 divisional offices of BMC. Appeal has been made to ensure patients with COVID or their relatives are offered immediate support when they contact the control room. Through these control rooms, officials have planned to offer immediate preventive measures by providing beds to the affected patients in the hospitals as per the requirement. Moreover, counseling will also be offered to affected patients who are under home quarantine.
