The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) took to Twitter on Wednesday, February 16 to announce that owing to heavy traffic congestion on Veera Desai Road in Andheri, the said road is closed from Andheri Sports Club to Laxmi Industrial Estate.

Owing to this, the bus Route 242 is diverted via Indian Oil Junction from 10.30 am on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, February 15, Mumbai Police cautioned locals travelling to and from or passing by Dadar of traffic from 2 pm and 6 pm in certain areas. Taking to Twitter, the police asked its citizens to avoid commuting via Kotwal Garden - Gadkari Junction - Rajbadhe Chowk because slow traffic is anticipated. Thus, they are urged citizens to use an alternative route for the time period mentioned.

Traffic congestion in the city has been a major cause of concern for the locals. In light of the same, reports have been doing the rounds that Mumbaikars could soon receive relief from vehicular congestion since Metro 2A and Metro 7 which is from Dahisar to DN Nagar and Dahisar East to Andheri East routes respectively are anticipated to become operational for passengers by March, claimed accounts.
