Mumbai Police have issued restrictions at counting centers ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly election results. The goal is to maintain order during the vote counting process. The city is preparing for the counting of votes on November 23, 2024.
As per Mid-day, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Akbar Pathan, announced the restriction order. It will come into force from 6:00 am on November 21 until 12:00 midnight on November 24. The restrictions cover a 300-meter radius around designated counting centers in Mumbai. Only election officials and public servants on duty are allowed within this restricted zone.
The directive bans the gathering of groups and loitering in the restricted areas. These zones include any highways, streets, lanes, and public spaces near counting centers. Officials state that the restriction is to make sure safety and prevent disturbances.
Key counting centers affected by the restrictions are spread across Mumbai. These locations include areas from Borivali and Dahisar to Andheri, Bandra, Worli, and Colaba. The counting centers are located in municipal schools, community halls, and other public spaces.

Mumbai Police have implemented strict security measures in preparation. All police leave has been cancelled. Over 30,000 officers were deployed during election day on November 20. They have also set up tight security arrangements for the upcoming counting day.
The Maharashtra Assembly election includes 288 seats. In Mumbai, there are 36 constituencies. The state saw a voter turnout of about 65% on election day. The opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), hopes to replicate its success from the Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti coalition is determined to retain power.
