Around 60 tonnes of waste is generated on a large scale on the premises of all the five markets in the Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee at Vashi. Also, due to the fact that more perishable goods are coming in the fruits and vegetables market, if it takes time to collect the garbage, a huge stench spreads and due to this, health problems also arise. But, now after receiving the funds of INR 125 crores, it will be used by the APMC administration for solid waste management and the waste problem in 'APMC' will be resolved.

For ten years, INR 65 crore of Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee was stuck at Dena Bank Malabar Hill branch, but now it will be returned with interest and APMC will get as much as INR 125 crore. The administration of APMC has given information that priority will be given to management of solid waste lingering in the market and road repair from this amount.

60 tonnes of waste is generated every day from all the five markets in APMC. Especially in the vegetable and fruit markets, more waste is generated in these places as perishable items are more. The waste disposal and composting process project of APMC Bazar Samiti has been stalled for the past several years.

Mumbai Agriculture Produce Market Committee inaugurated this fertiliser processing project in 2011 by Ajit Pawar. At that time APMC was given space by CIDCO. A provision of 25 crore rupees was made for it. But no decision has been taken regarding that project yet. The project has been delayed due to APMC's need for funds and space for solid waste management. But now an estimated provision of 30 crore rupees can be made for this and the administration expressed the opinion that the project will be completed soon.
