To celebrate eco-friendly festivals, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will provide free shadu clay and space to create idols to sculptors. So far, 10 sculptors have applied for shadu clay and 5 sculptors for the space. To ensure availability of soil and plan ward-wise spaces, sculptors should register their demand for shadu soil with TMC by March 15. The Thane Municipal Corporation has also appealed to them to apply for space as well.
Manisha Pradhan, Head of the Environment Department, has appealed to the sculptors to register their demand for soil at the Environment Department office at the Municipal Corporation Headquarters by March 15th, after completing the tender process for the same.
Except for Kalwa and Vartaknagar ward committees, no applications for space have been received from other ward committee areas. Therefore, Pradhan has also appealed to the sculptors' association to take the initiative and cooperate with the municipal corporation.
To celebrate an environmentally friendly Ganpati, Thane Municipal Corporation, as per the instructions of Commissioner Saurabh Rao, held a meeting with the idol makers and the public Ganeshotsav Mandal on January 16. Also, the Environmentally Friendly Ganeshotsav Regulations 2025 were released on February 3.
