Two students of Grade 10 from a private school in Antop Hill, Mumbai, were stabbed during an argument over seating arrangements for an internal exam. The incident occurred shortly before the preliminary exams began on Monday morning, January 6.
The injured students were taken to the civic-run Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion for treatment. As per reports, both students are recovering from their injuries.
The dispute started when two 15-year-old students got into an argument over a bench in the exam room on the fourth floor of the school building. One of the students reportedly asked a friend to bring a knife. During the argument, the student used that knife to stab the other boy in the hand, back, and abdomen.
When another student tried to intervene, the accused attacked him as well, causing more injuries. The situation escalated quickly, but some students stepped in to control it. The injured boys were rushed to the hospital shortly after the incident.
Police have charged the two students with offenses under provisions of the Indian Penal Code. These include attempted murder, causing harm intentionally, and using dangerous weapons. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
