Police Constable Vijay Chavan (42) was strangled to death by two assassins on the dawn of New Year in Navi Mumbai. To pretend that Chavan had died in a local accident, the killers threw his body on the railway tracks in front of the local between Rabale and Ghansoli railway stations on the Trans Harbour line. But due to Motorman's presence of mind , the assassins’ plan failed. The Vashi Railway Police has registered a case in this matter and they are thoroughly searching for the killers.
Vijay Chavan, working in Panvel Railway Police Station, lived in Ghansoli. Chavan had his weekly holiday on Tuesday, December 31. The killers strangled him that night. To pretend that Chavan had died in an accident, the two killers brought his body to the Rabale railway station area around 5.30 am on Wednesday.
After leaving the Thane-Panvel local Rabale railway station towards Ghansoli, the killers threw Chavan's body on the railway track and fled. This act of the killers was noticed by the motorman after the local train got very close to the body. The motorman informed the RPF personnel and the Vashi railway police about the incident. After that, the railway police rushed to the spot and took possession of Chavan's body and started further investigation.
Marks of strangulation
On further investigation in this matter, it was revealed that the deceased person was Vijay Chavan, a police constable of Panvel Railway Police Station. Marks of strangulation were found on his neck. It is believed that he was strangled to death. Vashi Railway Police has formed different teams to catch the perpetrators of this act.
