Mumbai: More than 21 POCSO cases registered in 48 hours

More than 21 cases of sexual abuse of minor girls have been registered in Mumbai in the last two days. In view of the increasing incidents, the police have arrested many accused. Bhoiwada police have arrested the accused who molested and threatened a 14-year-old minor girl. More than 21 POCSO cases have been registered in Mumbai in 48 hours. 

A senior officer associated with the Mumbai Police said that the recent incident of sexual harassment of two girls in a school in Badlapur has had a big impact on Mumbaikars. The police are not taking any risks and are registering the cases related to minors seriously and are not only taking action against the accused but are also arresting them.

According to police reports, an average of 12 cases of rape and POCSO have been reported every day in the last one week, while earlier one-two cases were reported. These crimes have been registered in Malvani, Samtanagar, RCF, Bhandup, Kandivali, Charkop, Santacruz, MHB, Vile Parle and other police stations.

The accused were arrested

Bhoiwada police have arrested the accused who molested a minor girl and threatened her. The accused has been identified as Dashrath Ashok Ramane (38). Mumbai Police has registered a case under the POCSO Act against the accused for molestation, intimidation and intimidation.

317 cases of rape till July

According to Mumbai Police, 317 cases of rape, 319 cases of molestation and 14 cases of sexual harassment of minor girls have been registered in Mumbai from January to July this year. In the same period in 2023, 354 cases of rape, 276 cases of molestation and 13 cases of sexual harassment of minor girls were reported respectively. In 2022, 354 cases of rape, 273 cases of molestation and 17 cases of sexual harassment of minor girls were registered under POCSO respectively.
