In yet another major crackdown on smuggling of narcotics, customs officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, seized 11.322 kilograms of hydroponic weed (marijuana) on December 19, 2024.
The illicit narcotics, worth approximately ₹11.322 crores, was found concealed in vacuum-sealed plastic pouches inside a trolley bag.
Acting on spot profiling, officers intercepted a passenger arriving from Bangkok. Upon conducting a thorough inspection, uncovering the hidden drugs and confiscated the same. Authorities arrested the passenger under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985.
The investigation is ongoing.
