A special NDPS court in Thane ordered the attachment of properties of well-known actress Mamta Kulkarni in connection with the multi-crore ephedrine drug racket case of 2016.
As per a report in the media, Special court judge, H M Patwardhan announced last week the attachment of three plush flats owned by the actress in several areas of Mumbai. At present, the said flats valued at around ₹20 crore.
Thane police had filed a fourth charge sheet against Kulkarni and alleged drug supplier Vicky Goswami in October last year. The charge sheet was made accessible in February 2018, police had also attached e-mails shared between Mamta Kulkarni and a bank manager providing instructions. The actress has been professed absconding and is believed to have taken refuge in Mombassa, Kenya.
In the year 2016, police conducted a raid on Avon Lifesciences Ltd, a pharmaceutical company situated in Solapur and arrested 14 people. The police said the actress and Vicky had set up a meeting with his assistants in Hotel Bliss in Kenya on January 8, 2016, to discuss details of how Ephedrine from Solapur. The police had exposed the seized substance Ephedrine, which was to be used to make methamphetamine, a party drug.
