"Police have arrested your dad. Your mother has been taken to the police station and you have to come with me you have no choice." This was the fake statement told by Santosh Khedekar(30) to the 12-year-old girl. Incident took place on 26 March at 9 am, when Khedekar abducted the girl from BEST colony located in Ghatkopar.
Kidnapper made the ransom call and demanded Rs 2 lakh. Parents of the minor went to Pant Nagar police station. A team was formed on the immediate basis to locate the kidnapper and nab him red-handed.
Sachin Patil, Zone – VII Deputy Police Commissioner, Assistant Police Commissioner Bhimdev Rathod, Senior Police Inspector (Pant Nagar), Praful Phadke along with the team located the kidnapper.
Kidnapper Prabhu Khedekar was arrested in a span of four hours. Case of idol theft is registered against him in Ratnagiri district. Two cases in Vikhroli police station and one case in Powai police station.
