Till now, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has found four of its officials guilty for the accident and has accordingly suspended them

After the tragic collapse of Himalaya foot overbridge in South Mumbai, Mumbai Police filed an FIR against Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Central Railway officials under section 304 – negligence leading to death or culpable homicide – of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Azad Maidan Police station.

After which, chief engineer A.R. Patil, S.K. Kori, and Sub-Chief Engineer R.B. Tare along with Assistant Engineer S.F. Kakulte have been suspended.

Now the municipal corporation has asked Police to conduct an independent inquiry for the entire incident. The inquiry report will also be assisted by a BMC report which claimed four of its officials accused.

All the culprits have been accused under section 304 – negligence leading to death or culpable homicide – of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Azad Maidan Police station.

After the accident claimed six lives, the bridge was demolished by the officials. The traffic was diverted through a subsidiary for the meantime.
