A 24-year-old woman filed a complaint with the Railway Police on Wednesday, June 28, alleging sexual harassment on a Mumbai local train. The incident took place between Charni Road and Grant Road stations on June 23.

The victim boarded the train at Charni Road station en route to Churchgate. There, she encountered the accused man between Charni Road and Grant Road stations. During the journey, the accused made inappropriate gestures and profane comments towards her.

In a shocking turn of events, the suspect managed to escape by jumping off the slow-moving train. The victim, overwhelmed by the incident, initially decided not to file a case that day. However, few days later, she approached the Mumbai Central Railway Police and lodged a formal complaint against the accused.

The Railway Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Mumbai Central Railway police station. The FIR has been registered under Section 354-A of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with sexual harassment offences.

The police has arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the offense. Based on the victim's complaint, a case of molestation has been filed under the relevant sections of the IPC. Further investigation is underway.

It is pertinent to note that several similar cases have been reported in the recent time and railway police have managed to take a prompt and immediate action to hold of the culprit.
