Maharashtra Acupuncture Council has approved 12 new acupuncture colleges in the state so that the students can get the scientific education of acupuncture course in the state and the citizens get better and quality treatment, as per the report by Loksatta. These new colleges have started from December 1 and many of these colleges have received good response from the students.
Since it is the first year of colleges teaching acupuncture treatment, admissions are being given on vacant seats. With these 12 new colleges, Maharashtra has become the first state to start recognised degree and diploma courses in the country.
This course is approved by the Union Ministry of Health and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Efforts will be made in the next few months to get the post graduate course approved by the university. An officer of the council informed me that there is a possibility that post-graduate courses will also start soon.
