A significant step has been taken to promote Marathi language and historical research. The Maharashtra government has sanctioned INR 9 crore to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for setting up two centers of excellence. Industries Minister Uday Samant made the announcement during his visit to Delhi on Wednesday.

Samant announced that INR 9 crore has been allocated for the Kusumagraj Marathi Study Center at JNU, set to begin operations on February 27, coinciding with Marathi Language Honor Day, celebrated on Kusumagraj's birth anniversary.
The center will facilitate advanced studies and research on Marathi literature, language evolution and its importance in the cultural fabric of India. During his visit, Samant also participated in discussions regarding the upcoming 98th All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, a prestigious literary meet to be held in Delhi from February 21 to 23 at the Talkatora Stadium.
Arvind Yellari, coordinator of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Center for Excellence, highlighted the institute's focus on Shivaji Maharaj's administration, justice system and military progress.
