On Monday, January 24, the minimum temperature witnessed a sharp fall of 6 degrees Celsius, with a forecast for Tuesday, January 25 being that minimum temperature will fall to 14 degrees, reports stated. 

According to accounts, the minimum temperature recorded by the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Santacruz observatory was 15 degrees Celsius, while on Sunday, January 23, it was 21 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the minimum temperature recorded at the Colaba observatory was 16.2 degrees Celsius. 

On the other hand, the day temperatures were also on the cooler side with Colaba and Santacruz observatory registering maximum temperatures of 24.6 degrees and 24.8 degrees respectively. These cool conditions were seen in Mumbai after occasional dust-raising winds that hampered the visibility in the island city. 

The maximum temperature on Monday was the lowest seen in over a decade with 24 degrees Celsius. Based on the IMD's 24 hours forecast, the minimum and maximum temperatures are anticipated to be around 25 degrees and 14 degrees respectively.

It has been reported that the till Tuesday the city will witness cool weather conditions and a gradual increase will be anticipated from the weekend. Apart from this, on Monday morning, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) rose to 502, which falls in the severe category, as per the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).

The lowest minimum temperature for Mumbai this season was on January 10 at 13.2 degrees Celsius.
