Mumbai Weather Update: City Experiences Chill Morning With 18 Degrees after Brief Sweltering Period

After experiencing the most sweltering period of January for the past few weeks, Mumbaikars enjoyed  a chilly morning today, January 29, with 18 degrees Celsius.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) most recent weather updates, the city is expected to see bright skies and a balmy 33 degrees Celsius throughout the day. There is 92% relative humidity. The sun rose at 07:14 AM, and it is expected to set at 06:30 PM.

IMD's Santacruz observatory in suburban Mumbai showed a minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius while Colaba recorded a lowest temperature of 19.5 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, January 28, the maximum temperature of 29 and 32 degrees Celsius was recorded at Colaba and Santacruz respectively.

In its most recent Mumbai weather updates, the Central Pollution Control Board's SAMEER app stated on January 29 that the city's air quality remained in the "moderate" category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 127 at 9:05 AM.

The AQI was moderate' in numerous parts of Mumbai, according to the SAMEER app dashboard. Kurla was falling under the 'moderate' category with an AQI of 130 for the air quality. An AQI of 119, 110, and 186, respectively, indicated "moderate" air quality in Kandivali, Worli, and Malad.

In the meantime, Colaba and Borivali had 'excellent' air quality, with respective AQIs of 66 and 72.

With an AQI of 223, Deonar recorded "poor" air quality.

Moreover, Navi Mumbai's air quality was classified as "moderate" with an AQI of 136; whereas Thane was graded as "good" based on data from the SAMEER app.

"Good" is defined as having an air quality index between 0 and 100, "moderate" as being between 100 and 200, "poor" as being between 200 and 300, "very poor" as being between 300 and 400, and "severe" as reaching 400 or above.

Mumbai is expected to see a minimum temperature of 24.49 degree Celsius and a maximum temperature of 26.64 degree Celsius on January 30, 2025. The humidity will be 40% .
