Employees of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have been asked to focus on the duties and responsibilities of their parent department while also managing relief works currently underway for COVID-19.

This comes as the civic body looks to meet its financial targets for the year as prolonged shutdowns and closures have impacted the financial performance of the civic body across the board.

The agency has asked its employees to resume work on pending projects such as bridges, roads, stormwater drains, as well as solid waste management among others. Additional Municipal Commissioner of the BMC, Suresh Kakani said - “The monsoon period was expected to be a crucial time and the staff had to focus on COVID. Now the monsoon season is almost over and so the staff has been asked to prioritise work of their respective departments.”
