The Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) launched a mobile application on Wednesday which will help patients to access details and qualifications of doctors who are treating them. They are doing so to create awareness about quacks who pretend to be doctors. This app was inaugurated by Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan.
The MMC is a statutory body that registers allopathic doctors and looks into cases of medical negligence. The app contains a data on 1.4 lakh doctors who are registered with the state council.
Whenever a patient wants to know about the doctor who is treating them, can quickly browse the app where they will get to see the name, registration number, qualifications and date of registration of the doctor.
The app offers online registration facility for provisional or permanent registration with the council, which otherwise requires a visit to the Mumbai headquarters.
The App will be helpful to patients who cannot differentiate whether qualifications of a doctor are fake or genuine.”
MMC president Dr Shivkumar Utture.
The app is currently available on Google Play Store and can be downloaded free of cost.
