The widening of the main road in the Saket Pool area, which is considered very important in terms of traffic on the Mumbai-Nashik highway, has started. This work is going on from Saket Bridge to Majiwada and this work is likely to take at least three months. Motorists plying towards Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi and Nashik every morning are likely to suffer the consequences. After the completion of the main route, eight lanes will be available to motorists on this route. After that the repair work of Saket bridge will be taken up. Therefore, there is a possibility of congestion on the Mumbai-Nashik highway for a few months.

Thousands of vehicles are transported on the Mumbai Nashik highway every day. Vehicles plying towards Gujarat or Bhiwandi from Uran JNPT and Nashik also have to ply through this route. Therefore, there is a heavy load of vehicles on this road. Mumbai Nashik Highway will be connected to Samriddhi Highway from Vadpe. So the entire load of vehicles will come on this path. Therefore, to reduce future congestion, the State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has undertaken the widening of this road in 2021.

The MSRDC is planning to complete the 24 km stretch from Vadape to Thane by May 2025. The work of additional new routes here is being done in a phased manner. But now the construction of the main road has also started.

The work from Saket bridge to Majiwada flyover started on December 9, 2024. As the work on the main road has started, vehicles plying from Thane towards Nashik, Bhiwandi and Navi Mumbai are plying on the new road constructed along the main road. Due to the closure of the main road, it has started affecting the traffic system on this road. Citizens are suffering due to traffic congestion.

The people of Thane will have to bear the brunt of this traffic jam for the next three months. But after the completion of this main route, MSRDC engineers informed that an eight-lane route will be available to motorists. However, there is only a four-lane carriageway available on the Saket Bridge. So after the Saket bridge work starts, the drivers will have to face the inconvenience. In this regard, when contacted, Manjusha Bhongle, senior police inspector of Kapurbawadi traffic branch, said that although the main road has been closed, traffic is being allowed through the adjacent new road.
