The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced that the INR 1,100-crore elevated corridor between the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be completed by February 2027.

The project consists of two elevated corridors. One will connect Palaspe Phata to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The other will run from Chirle, at the end of MTHL, to Gavan Phata.

The corridor between Chirle and Gavan Phata will be a six-lane structure built above the JNPT–Panvel National Highway (NH-348). As per reports, service roads will also be rebuilt.

In the Raigad district, another six-lane elevated corridor will be constructed beside the Old Mumbai-Pune National Highway (NH-48). This highway will also be widened to six lanes. The project will improve connectivity and ease congestion on NH-348. This highway reportedly has heavy multi-axle container traffic from JNPT.

The project is expected to reduce congestion at major junctions and improve connectivity between Atal Setu and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The project is being carried out by Gawar Construction Ltd. at an estimated cost of INR 1,102.75 crore. Excavation work has already begun.

The new infrastructure will improve travel between Mumbai and Pune. The elevated corridors will have a total length of 1,700 meters in the Palaspe section and 4,958 meters in the Chirle section. According to MMRDA, the project will improve Maharashtra’s position as a key economic hub.
