MMRC completes 32nd breakthrough on Mumbai Metro-3 line

Several areas in the city of Mumbai have been marked for the upcoming Metro project, and the citizens, for many years now, are waiting for the services to begin.

As per recent updates, the underground work of the Metro 3 project connecting Colaba-Bandra-Seepz is 87 per cent complete and the overall project has been completed by around underground and 60 per cent. Reports state that the 32nd phase of 1.10 km underground work was completed by Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) on Monday, October 5, 2020, and this section is at the subway near Siddhivinayak North Shaft to Dadar Metro Station.

Officials related to the project has called this a commendable effort, as it has been important and a difficult task to be taken up at these times, considering the aspects of reducing inconvenience to the commuters and the citizens. Once operational, Mumbai Metro, especially this line will be a boon for the passengers and the public transport sector.

Officials stated that a tunnel boring machine made by Herrenknecht was used for this phase and the process was incorporated with ground pressure control technology. This phase was launched on December 16, 2019, and the machine completed the underground work with the help of 791 rings in 295 days on Monday, October 6, 2020.

As per records, the proposed Dadar Metro Station will be built between residential buildings and commercial establishments and will serve as one of the important stations on the Mumbai Metro 3 line. Officially under the package 4, this line includes Dadar Siddhivinayak and Shitladevi stations. Officials have stated that 61 per cent work of Dadar station project, 94 per cent underground work and 95 per cent excavation has been completed.
