Social Activist Anjali Damania met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and opposed the nomination of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Eknath Khadse to the legislative council.

It is learnt that Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Khadse has been nominated for the nomination to legislative council through Governor’s quota. The Maharashtra cabinet recently approved 12 names for the nomination to the legislative council.

Damania has vehemently opposed the nomination of Khadse to the legislative council. She appealed the governor not to allow Khadse’s nomination or else the fight against corruption will be meaningless.

The activist also stated that Khadse has said derogatory things against her and a complaint regarding the same is registered with Vakola Police station. Damania has also raised objection to the speech made by Khadse while joining the NCP in Mumbai.

“I have given an appeal letter to the Governor regarding the remarks Eknath Khadse made against me. Khadse also has corruption allegations against him,” Damania said.

The social activist has further alleged that no action against Khadse has been taken because the Home Department is with the NCP. She also raised the issue with NCP chief Sharad Pawar but nothing happened.

Damania’s appeal to the Governor can create trouble for Khadse’s nomination to the legislative council through Governor’s quota.
