BJP leader and MLA Prasad Lad, on Saturday, January 23, 2021, met MNS president Raj Thackeray, post which questions regarding  BJP's alliance with MNS have begun among the political circles. As per reports, MNS has garnered an impressive response in the recently held Maharashtra Gram Panchayat elections.

Adding to the speculations, the suggestive statement made by Lad after the meeting has sparked conversation among the opposition, whereby it is said that this could lead to a BJP-MNS alliance in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections scheduled in 2022.

Lad met Raj Thackeray at the latter's Krishnakunj residence in Dadar, Shivaji Park, and it is said that the two spoke for more than half an hour. After the meeting, Prasad Lad interacted with the media representatives present at the location.

On being asked if the visit was to discuss the alliance Lad said that he had received information that Raj Thackeray's hand was injured, which is why he made the visit to check on the same, calling this a personal and friendly one.

Speaking on the question of whether BJP will contest the BMC elections alone or with allies, he said that the party will take those who join them, however, no discussion has taken place regarding the BJP-MNS alliance.

In any case, it is certain that the BJP will fight the corporation elections vigorously and is striving to fly its flag high this time in 2022 polls. Sharing more, Lad said that the party members are going to take away the traditional power of Shiv Sena and the right answer will be given at the right time, whereby the mayor of Mumbai in the future will be from the BJP.
